Case Study of a male patient aged 23 years with chief
complaint of huge gap between his upper front teeth. This was creating very
embarrassing situation for him, sometimes spit passing between front teeth. He was
greatly lacking in self-confidence.
We suggested two options.
Option 1: Closure of gaps by Braces (Orthodontic treatment).
This will take about 6-8 months. This is time consuming but more scientific
option because gaps are eliminated totally from the mouth.
Option 2: Closure of gaps by Laminates (Veneers). This is
faster option but involves shaping front teeth so that they can receive 0.5mm
tooth colored Laminates. This option involves grinding normal front teeth,
which many patients do not approve.
Our patient opted for first option and we were able to close
the gaps between front teeth in approximately 8 months time. Patient was highly
satisfied because his original teeth were not shaped to bring about closure of
gaps.
